Tour of Mountain Dog Spa

To see a day-to-day inside look of our kennel and bathing areas, we encourage you to check out our Facebook page!

As a training center and companion animal care facility, we do our best to keep the environment calm and relaxed for all the dogs. We don’t give in-person tours in an effort to prevent over-excitement or sudden anxiety brought on when strangers walk through the building and all the dogs start barking.

Instead, we make an effort to consistently post videos and photos on social media that give families an inside look at their pet’s surroundings during a boarding, training, bathing or daycare stay.

We are located at 1006 US Hwy 64 East, Cashiers, NC.

Our sign can be seen from the road as you drive by.

The Mountain Dog Spa building looks like this:

All dogs need to be leashed at all times. Do not introduce yourself or your dog to other customers in the parking area, out front or in the lobby. Please give other dogs and customers a respectful distance.

When you enter the lobby, please remember to close the front door behind you.

There are items for sale in our lobby, including Mountain Dog Spa t-shirts and hoodies, Herm Sprenger collars, E-Collar Technologies remote collars, Pill Pockets, locally-made dog collars, leashes and bandanas, and more!

There is a grassy hill out front. Please use this area to walk your dogs before coming inside.

Kennel Area

All our kennels are 6X4 feet.

Boarding dogs relax with their personal water bowl and any additional items their owner packed for their stay, such as their food, bedding or favorite toy.

We are proud to introduce our new state-of-the-art, industrial-strength air filtration system. The system was installed in December 2019, and it has been working around the clock to keep your pet healthy and comfortable during visits with us.

The new air filtration system in our kennel is the same machine one would find in a children’s school or a factory to clean the air of disease-causing germs and contamination particles. This air filtration system works by continuously pulling the air through multiple filters. The first filter catches all the dust, pollen and large particles. Then, the air passes through several smaller filters, which are designed to trap submicron-size particles. This filtration system succeeds with a 98% removal rate on atmospheric dust spot tests. The machine’s gentle, quiet vacuum pulls the air through the filters, circulates the kennel air and regulates the air quality at all times.

Mountain Dog’s priority has always been the health, safety and comfort of our client’s dogs while they are in our care. We keep our kennel clean with daily sanitation and scrubbing. We also verify that every pet in the building has up-to-date vaccination records to prevent disease exposure to our client’s pets. This new air filtration system is a further step in preventing diseases, such as Bordetella (Kennel Cough), from existing in our kennel air.

Our kennel air is clean, free of germs and dust. We feel good about that – and your dog will feel good because of it.

Play Yards

Dogs love spending time outside in our fenced-in yards!

When the weather in sunny and warm, the dogs play in the pool!

Bathing and Grooming Area

Our bathing and grooming area is an open environment where dogs may socialize and relax together at the spa. If your dog does not do well in the company of other dogs, please inform the staff when you drop off so that your dog can be accommodated comfortably with a private space for the day.

While the dogs are not in the bath or drying, they have indoor-outdoor access to a yard through an open door.

*Please Note: The price of Teeth Brushing has increased from $10 to $12. Using a rubber-bristled single-use toothbrush we distribute an enzymatic groomer-quality dog toothpaste and scrub all the teeth, working to break down plaque buildup and freshen breath.

Daycare Room

Our daycare dogs will be housed in a crate for the day to rest during their rest period.  The daycare and boarding dogs may work on training and “place” skills in the  Daycare room throughout the day.
