Frequently Asked Questions

What are your hours?

Your dog may only be picked up or dropped off when the office is open. The employees are not authorized to release or take in dogs when the office is closed.

How can I schedule my dog for a bath or groom?

The first thing to understand is the difference between a groom and a bath here at Mountain Dog Spa.

A groom is when your dog gets a fur haircut. We also call this a Bath & Trim service.

A bath is a shampoo massage, warm water rinse, ear cleaning,, nails trim, de-shedding brush (for shedding breeds), de-tangling and all-over fur brush out. Additional services can be added for an additional fee.

We have bathing available Monday through Saturday. Reservations are required for Saturday bathing services. Grooming appointments are available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or a Friday. Reservations are required for a grooming service. Create your Gingr Portal if you have not done so already, and upload your pet’s veterinary vaccine records (If you are an existing customer, please use the email or phone number that we have on file to set up your Gingr Portal). Rabies must be current for a bath. You may request the date of your dog’s bath on your Gingr Portal, or you can get in touch with the office via phone at (828) 743-5532 or email at mountaindogshots@gmail.com to schedule an appointment.

How do I schedule a daycare visit for my dog(s)?

Daycare is available Monday through Saturday. Reservations are not required, but are recommended.  Walk-ins are accepted depending on our availability. You can use the Gingr Portal, or contact us via phone or email to schedule an appointment. Fill out the form at www.mountaindogspa.com/registration to register your pet with us.

All dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations including Bordetella, Distemper/Parvo, and Rabies. Vaccination records should be uploaded to your Gingr Portal, sent to mountaindogshots@gmail.com or brought in as a hardcopy prior to your pet’s first daycare visit.

Do you offer daycare packages, partial day rates, or discounts for multiple daycare dogs?

At this time, we don’t offer daycare packages or discounts of any kind for daycare. We do offer multiple dog discounts for overnight boarding stays (dogs from the same family staying in the same suite overnight), but not for the daycare visits. All daycare dogs are integrated into our structured program that combines dog training with exercise, socializing, and fun! For more information about what the daily schedule is like for daycare dogs, read our daycare page and check out our social media.

How do I schedule a boarding reservation for my dog(s)?

You can request boarding reservations through your Gingr Portal directly. You also have the option to call the office or stop by during our office hours.

Keep in mind that your dog must be picked up or dropped off while our office is open. The employees are not authorized to take in or release dogs while the office is closed. Please, make your plans with our office hours in mind.

Before your dog’s boarding stay, don’t forget to send your pet’s veterinary shot records to mountaindogspa@gmail.com or upload them directly to your Gingr Portal. All vaccinations must be up-to-date including Bordetella, Distemper/Parvo, and Rabies.

If you are an existing customer and we have your email or phone number on file, please use that email or phone number to create your Gingr Portal.

Does an employee sleep in the kennel with the boarding dogs overnight?

The business owner lives on-property with her family. Our security system includes detectors and cameras that protect the building 24/7. During the summer season, we also have an employee who stays overnight in-house with your pets. In the winter, we do not have a staff member sleeping inside the building with the dogs overnight, but the monitoring system is in place overnight for safety.

Do you allow dogs that are not dog friendly?

Dogs that are not friendly with other dogs are welcome at Mountain Dog Spa, but they will not be put into situations where they come into contact with other dogs. Please inform the staff if your dog does not like to be around other dogs when you drop off so that accommodations can be made to keep your dog happy, comfortable and safe.

Please, keep your dog on a leash, and be aware that other dogs in the lobby or parking lot may not be friendly with other dogs or strangers.

Even if your dog is friendly, unfamiliar dogs should never be close to each other or meet each other in the parking lot or lobby for safety reasons.

Please, keep a respectful distance between yourself and other peoples’ pets. Keep your dog on a leash and away from other dogs/customers at all times. Remember that dogs on-leash should never meet each other, because many friendly dogs will experience and display leash aggression.

The following YouTube video explains the etiquette to bring your pet into Mountain Dog Spa.

Can customers tour the kennel?

We do not permit customers to walk through the kennel area, because we must prevent the dogs in the kennels from becoming stressed or overexcited by the presence of strangers. We are happy to have the staff walk through the building and take a video for you so you can see what’s going on at that exact moment in the play yards and kennels. We can take pictures of your dogs kennel for you so you can see where he/she will be staying.

You can also view a virtual tour on our website with pictures of our facility. We also consistently post pictures and videos during the day on our social media.

Do I need to bring a leash and collar?

Please bring your dog in on a leash, and be sure to give other dogs and customers a respectful distance.

When your dog is in our facility, place their personal leashes and collars in a storage bin designated to your pet. Names are written on these bins to ensure each dog leaves with all of their personal belongings.

When you pick up your pet, he or she will be returned to you wearing their leash and collar/harness.

Note: If you have a prong collar or remote controlled e-collar for your dog, please bring him or her into Mountain Dog Spa with the training tools on. We will continue leash training your pet while he or she is in our care.

Do you have an indoor play area?

We do not have an indoor play area in this facility. We only do outdoor play time, but perform certain protocols when there is inclement weather. We implement shorter, 15 minute groups that rotate more frequently throughout the day. They still get the same amount of outdoor time, just in shorter periods. We apply this protocol to rain, extreme heat, and extreme cold. We have weather guides that specify the dangers of extreme hot and cold and we follow these regulations to keep your dogs safe.
