Daycare

Well-balanced dogs play and interact with other dogs and dog professionals. Daycare is an opportunity for your canine friend to socialize with other canines while you work, play, or just take a break in the mountains. Treat your best friend to a day with friends and pick up a calm and relaxed dog at the end of your busy day.

How do I schedule a daycare visit for my dog?

Although daycare is available for walk-ins on Monday through Saturday for registered clients, RESERVATIONS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Saturday hours vary from our weekday hours. Please view the Saturday hours and plan to drop off or pick up your dog at those specific times. Create or login to your customer portal here to register your pet with us and request reservations.

All dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations including Bordetella, Distemper/Parvo, and Rabies. Vaccination records should be sent to mountaindogshots@gmail.com or brought in as a hardcopy prior to your pet’s first daycare visit. You may also upload them to your customer portal. Please continue to update vaccination records as your pet gets them.

What do the daycare dogs do all day?

Drop off for daycare begins when the office opens at 8 a.m.

Please use the grassy hill out front for a brief morning walk to give your pet(s) a chance to relieve themselves before bringing them inside. All dogs need to be on a leash.

Your pet will be assigned a crate and personal water bowl.

Each dog enjoys time outside in the play yards in regulated socialization groups that are determined based on size, age, temperament and dog friendships. Dogs whose playgroup is not using the yard at the moment are in the crate resting.

*Keep in mind that our office is closed from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. each weekday, so no dogs may be picked up or dropped off for any services during that time.

At 9 a.m. all dogs that have undergone training at Mountain Dog Spa to learn the “place” command will begin “place”. All other dogs will relax in their crates. You can visit our training resource page to learn more about this training. “Place” will stay down until 9:30 a.m. At this time,  daycare dogs that participate in place will return to their crates and play groups will begin.

Play groups will begin their rotation at 9:45 a.m.. Each dog enjoys time outside in the play yards in specific groups that are determined based on size, temperament and dog friendships. Play groups are created to ensure the dogs are comfortable, safe, and with their best friends when playing outside! Dogs whose playgroup is not outside are in their own crate resting and getting ready for their own group. 12 p.m. is when lunch or lunchtime medication will begin to be served to those that require it.

Play groups will remain in  constant rotation throughout the day. This allows the dogs to get maximum outside time. After all groups have been completed, the cycle will start again until 4 p.m. At this time all dogs that know the “place” command will return to place until they are picked up. The other dogs will be resting in their crate.

Our office closes at 5 p.m. A $10 late fee will be added to a dog’s reservation if they are not picked up by 5:15 p.m. Any daycare dogs remaining after 5:30 p.m. will board overnight. Kennel attendants are not authorized to release or take in dogs after the office is closed, so please keep that in mind when you are planning your day.
